Applause on Netflix

At last, fans can relive Paprika Steen’s stellar performance in the award-winning Danish film, APPLAUSE. Through a distribution deal with Kino Lorber Inc., the picture has been made available for viewing on Netflix. Additionally the film, which garnered Oscar buzz for its international star, is also now available for purchase on DVD. Find it here.

Another Round of Applause

World Wide is pleased to announce that it has entered into a licensing agreement with Kino Lorber, Inc., in New York for APPLAUSE. The agreement allows Kino Lorber the right to distribute the award-winning Danish film to home video, rental (DVD), pay TV, cable TV, satellite TV, and free TV, hotel/motel viewing, pay-per-view, new media and digital rights (VOD/SVOD).

Interview on Swirl Radio

World Wide is pleased to announce the addition of San Francisco’s Swirl Radio  to the growing list of nationwide supporters of APPLAUSE. Last week, Michelle Meow, a broadcaster on the LGBT-focused station, interviewed World Wide’s president and CEO, Paul Hancock regarding the picture and his views on the state of the independent foreign film industry and blogged about the experience - listen to it this Saturday, the 7th. On Saturday, April 14, an interview with APPLAUSE star Paprika Steen will be broadcast by host Michelle Sinhbandith. World Wide would like to thank Swirl Radio for helping to bring the release of this important film to the attention of its listeners in the San Francisco area.

The actress will be a guest on Seattle’s The Scandinavian Hour http://www.thescandinavianhour.com, radio program on KKNW 1150 AM on Saturday, April 7 (the program streams live from 9-10 a.m. PT for those outside the listening area). During her interview with host Doug Warne, the Danish actress will be promoting the Friday, April 13, premiere of the picture at the Landmark Varsity Theatre in the Seattle area. APPLAUSE for All in Seattle!

World Wide is pleased to announce the success of its recent efforts to invite organizations in the Seattle area to support the Friday, April 13, release of APPLAUSE. Currently on board are The Scandinavian Hour (a weekly Scandinavian radio program), the Professor Edwin Weihe of the Seattle University Film Studies Program, the Danish Club Seattle of the Northwest Danish Foundation, and the University of Washington’s Scandinavian Studies Department. These individuals, organizations, and programs have agreed to publicize the film via their calendars, websites, and/or newsletters and will be encouraging their members and associates to come out and support the film’s opening weekend.

Zandvliet Does It Again!

Last year, director Martin Pieter Zandvliet made a splash at the European Union Film Festival in Chicago with a screening of APPLAUSE. Now, he’s doing it again!  His new film, A FUNNY MAN, has been chosen to open the 15th annual event at the prestigious Gene Siskel Film Center. In it, Danish film stars Nikolaj Lie Kaas and Lars Ranthe play Dirch Passer and Kjeld Petersen, respectively: two well known comedic performers of the 1950s and 60s whose friendship was undone by fame. Golden Girl!

Denmark’s Paprika Steen is poised for an additional run at the Oscars! Last year, she was under official consideration for Best Actress for her starring turn in APPLAUSE. Now, her 2011 Danish comedy, SuperClasico, has made the cut for the final nine submissions in the race for Best Foreign Language Film. Will her outstanding work propel the new comedy as far as the official ballot? Find out when the Academy Of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences announces its list of 2012 nominees on Tuesday, January 24.

Applause for Charlotte!

The Charlotte Film Society has announced that APPLAUSE will screen as part of its 2012 Saturday Night Cine Club Series. The picture will show on March 10 at 7:30 p.m. EST at Theatre Charlotte (501 Queens Road, Charlotte, NC). Admission will be only $5 for CFS members and $8  for non-members.
